"This photo was taken from my 10 acre Iron Edge property that was located by Dick Morgan in 1887. I'm standing just above his discovery cut on the Iron Edge cliff formation, elevation 11,200 ft.
The view is to the east across the headwaters of East Brush creek toward the 13,000 + ft. mountain peaks.
Gold Dust Peak is on the left and Eagle Peak on the far right. "Negro" basin is just left of my head and Gold Dust basin is concealed by the trees on...

Shared marker for: "Schlegel, Mary E. (Handley), Apr. 6, 1932--May 9, 2008; Rancher, Wesley H., Feb. 8, 1927--Feb. 27, 2002," in the McCoy Cemetery. A mountain scene with river, pines, columbines, hummingbird, elk and riderless horse is engraved on the marker. The family brand is engraved at center bottom.

"Along with the move of the county seat came an obligation to build a modern county courthouse. Designed by renowned architect J. Francis Pillsbury, the Eagle County Courthouse was constructed in 1932 at a cost of $60,000. The sheriff's office was on the basement floor along with living quarters for the jailer. 878) Catamount Bridge

"The Catamount Bridge, looking east, showing the river, river road and railroad with Yarmony Mountain in the right background.
The bridge, built in 1909 stood up well until 1951 when a loaded soft drink truck found a weak place and broke through. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the bridge was out about ten days." -- McCoy Memoirs p.18
