By the 2000s, fat tire bicycles enabled many WSC students to make their way around campus by bike during the winter months. This sidewalk north of Taylor Hall was often referred to as "Taylor Pass". (The sidewalk to the north of the library was "Savage Pass".)

The 1961 Western commencement exercises were held May 26, 1961 in Taylor Hall Auditorium. Officiating was the newly-appointed President Grant Venn, Dean Kjosness, Faculty Dean Cummins, Graduate Studies Chairman McCulloch, and Trustees Leslie J. Savage and Joseph Weber.
