The house to which the barn belongs is on Eagle St. in Red Cliff. It was the Forest Ranger station and then housing for the Erlandson, Penrod and Ottens families. To the right of the house is the old town hall and jail.

The Tobias and Marie Montoya house on Water St., Red Cliff, Colorado, in February 2008...a good snow year. Mr. Montoya worked for New Jersey Zinc Co. as a miner. Their son, Ramon, is the current mayor of Red Cliff [2010].

Elaudia Velasquez standing at 446 Eagle St., Red Cliff. Elaudia lived in Truchas, New Mexico. She married Procopio Velasquez November 26, 1949. The couple moved to Colorado and Procopio worked for many years as a miner for New Jersey Zinc at Gilman. He passed away in 2005.

Mr. Stokes worked on the Homestake Dam project, along with Harry Snyder (Whitey), Kelly Bissell, Sy Piedmont (Project Manager), Chuck Kincaid, Van Wiley (Safety), Harry Lentz, Jack Trepto, Buster Beck (Drill & Powder Foreman). The work crews lived in trailer homes at Pando.

Horses Tom and Dick tethered to a wagon. Tom and Dick were the team that moved Dessie, Earl and Theodore Beck from Salida to Red Cliff. "The Earl Beck family moved into town sometime after Jan. 14, 1923, when I was born, and before March 2, 1925, when Buster was born, but I have never known just exactly when. We lived for a short while in a house on Monument Street and then moved down to the lower end of town on Water Street. We rented for a while...
