Studio portrait of Addison L. and Bird Crawford Hockett, early pioneers of Eagle County. He married Birdie Crawford on November 22, 1898. They lived in Gypsum and had six children. Addison's father, Barclay Hockett, first settled on the mouth of Brush Creek in 1882, in an area now known as Hockett Gulch. Barclay Hockett was Eagle's first postmaster. Josiah (Si) Herwick in a suit with boutonniere for a studio portrait. He was the husband of Ida Oyler Herwick, both coming to the Eagle River Valley in 1881, locating on the property now known as the Nottingham Ranch. He and his family lived in Avon, Edwards, Wolcott, Burns, State Bridge and Eagle. The Eagle residence was on four lots at the corner of 3rd and Howard Sts. They moved to Glenwood Springs in 1902. Ida Oyler Herwick, wife of Josiah Herwick. She became a member of Pacific Circle, Women of Woodcraft, Circle No. 132 at Eagle, Colorado, on Dec. 16, 1898. She died at Grand Valley, Colorado (now Battlement Mesa, Colorado, on March 8, 1919. -- Carol Crawford McManus, from "Ida, her Labor of Love," 1999.
