Hand tinted photograph. The remarkable scenery presented all along the route of the D&RG has called into service an open observation car, which enables the traveler to obtain an unrestricted view. Postmarked Aug 30, 1913 from Malta. Colorado.
A lake lies between the grassy meadow with a small patch of pine trees and a snowy mountain in the background. Two small cabins can be seen by the lake in front.
Part of the bridge is surrounded by rushing water. The first portion has already been washed away or at least submerged. Two loaded railcars are still out on the bridge as ballast.
A train seen from the top, traveling on a snowy hillside. The card notes, "Probably Rotary OM near Cascade Creek on Denver & Rio Grande (1.5 m. west of Osier)."
